Garmin GPSMAP 60
The Garmin GPSMAP 60 is a handheld GPS device designed for the outdoor enthusiast and falls in the lower half of the GPS 60 series offered by Garmin. This model has many features seen in the upper models, however it features a more affordable hi-res monochrome display rather than a color display. The robust and waterproof casing makes it a perfect choice for virtually any adventure, at an affordable cost. There is a built-in basemap with automatic routing and turn by turn prompts to help guide you to your destination. The four-level greyscale 1.5" x 2.2" screen has a bright LED backlight for easy visibility in sunlight or darkness. There is 24 MB of internal memory allowing you to store marine, topo and city street maps from optional MapSource mapping software and has serial and USB port for easy connectivity to your computer. Other features include geocaching features, indoor and outdoor games, an alarm clock, sunrise/sunset and moon phase tables, and optimal hunting and fishing times.

The new Garmin GPSMAP 60 has many of the same features as Garmin's newer color units, yet it's priced within the reach of a larger audience - for anyone needing an affordable, reliable, rugged, and easy-to-use handheld GPS receiver — for recreational or professional applications.

The Garmin GPSMAP 60 features an ample 160 x 240 4-level grayscale display and a bright LED backlight. Battery life is among the best in the industry — offering 28 hours (typical use) on just two AA batteries. For fast and versatile data transfer, the units offer both USB and serial connections.

The Garmin GPSMAP 60 has a routable North and South American basemap and 24 MB of internal memory for use with Garmin’s extensive line of MapSource cartography, including City Select, U.S. Topo 24K, U.S. Topo, Recreational Lakes with Fishing Hot Spots, and BlueChart. Using MapSource City Select, the Garmin GPSMAP 60 offers automatic turn-by-turn route calculation with tone prompts to addresses or points of interest — a feature normally found in higher-priced GPS navigators.

Backwoods, boundary waters, blue highways — the Garmin GPSMAP 60 is your trusted guide to the great outdoors. The Garmin GPSMAP 60 is packed with several of the features found in the 60 series color units, but sport an affordable, high-resolution, monochrome display for outdoor enthusiasts on a budget.

The rugged, waterproof Garmin GPSMAP 60 is the perfect, low-cost, navigator for wherever your spirit of adventure takes you:

* Large, sunlight-readable, four-level grayscale display with bright LED backlight makes it easy to find your way — day or night
* 28 hours of battery life for more hours of outdoor enjoyment
* Both serial and USB connections for fast and versatile download transfer
* Built-in basemap with automatic routing capabilities to guide you, turn-by-turn, with tone prompts to your destination
* 24 MB of internal memory for lots of storage of optional MapSource marine, topo and city street mapping downloads

Fully compatible with the entire line of MapSource products, the Garmin GPSMAP 60 makes it easy to navigate the great outdoors.
The Garmin GPSMAP 60CSx is also due out soon with the following features:
* SiRF high-sensitivity GPS receiver
* WAAS-enabled
* Meets rigid IPX-7 submersible standards
* Built-in basemaps with auto routing
* Expandable memory
* 64 MB TransFlash memory card included for optional downloaded maps
* Electronic compass

* USB and serial ports
* 160 x 240 pixels
* Runs for 30 hours on 2 AA batteries (not included)
* 2.4?W x 7.1?H x 1.3?D

Like the other products in the 60 series, this trusty handheld is compact and lightweight, with a user-friendly interface. It's reliable, and as extra-precise as WAAS can make it. Special geocaching and geolocation gaming modes provide entertainment, as well as trailblazing navigation capability. The unit also includes an alarm clock, sunrise/sunset and moon phase tables, optimal hunting and fishing times — plus much more. Excellent value!
